The phrase "sassy stigmata" can be traced back to Pope Runcible in 1214 who mysteriously and spontaneously started bleeding from his hands during his coronation ceremony. Onlookers were amazed to see that his reaction to these apparent stigmata was, rather than being shocked, to denounce their herecy and ask them to leave. The stigmata, again to everyone's alleged surprise, back-chatted the pope and paved the way to their being called sassy stigmata. These sassy stigmata are also alleged to have invented the phrase "you go girl!".
